The Relationship – Marriage Challenge
Week 1: Communication Skills
The first week you will be learning new communication skills to incorporate into your relationship. There are five skills that we are going over and learning, and you can log your progress on the forum. Talk about how it went, what you found helpful, and which communication skills worked best for your relationship or marriage.
Week 3: Physical Intimacy
Now that we have learned to communicate, and learned to truly open up to each other, we can work on physical intimacy. Physical intimacy is anything from a hug, kiss, or hand hold. Increasing your physical intimacy can work wonders for your relationship, and this week will be all about learning what each other likes and dislikes, how often you like certain types of physical intimacy, and what you think is missing.
Whether you’re in the dating, long-term commitment, pre-marital, or marital phase of your relationship you can always enhance your relationship health and intimacy. Look forward to seeing you there!
Week 2: Emotional Intimacy
Each week builds off each other, so now that you’ve gained new ways to communicate, this week is all about emotional vulnerability. Don’t run yet, though! I know, that word, “Vulnerability” sounds very scary, especially for relationships/marriages that might be on the rocks. But this week there will be assignments to enhance your emotional intimacy.
Week 4: Sexual Intimacy
Sexual intimacy can now be built upon with a strong foundation of healthy communication, honesty and openness, and the comfort of non-sexual touches. Building sexual intimacy means facing that scary word again – being vulnerable. Often times couples never sat down to really talk about their sexual desires, turn-ons, like and dislikes, and drives. These conversations – with the skills you’ve learned – hopefully won’t be as scary as they might once have been. This week there will be exercises to increase sexual satisfaction, understand each other’s desires, turn-ons and likes and dislikes, and learn what gets each other in the mood (especially for the lower drive partner as a mismatch in drive has caused countless hours of frustration and tears for some couples).
Meet Your Instructor
Writer, Forensic Psychology Major
Savannah has been writing since the age of fifteen. She studied Dramatic and Creative Writing at the Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA. During her time at SCAD, she learned more about the different types of writing, including short stories, essays, scripts, pitches and more. During her time in Savannah, she noticed the injustice that happened around her while taking some psychology courses.
She transferred to John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC, ambitious and driven to help people, and is currently working on attaining her Bachelors in Forensic Psychology. Her goal is to get her Masters in Forensic Mental Health Counseling and start her own practice and/or become a Victim Advocate, as well as continue her writing.
Aside from finishing school, Savannah continues to not only work on her book series and projects, but launched Millennial Mrs. and Mom in summer of 2017, and shortly after started writing for Conscious Talk Magazine and got promoted to Deputy Editor.
